Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the RBI’s Rs 169‑crore data centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley‑II in Jatni, Odisha, on Sunday.
The 18.55‑acre complex will host mission‑critical payment and settlement systems, expanding India’s digital finance backbone.
Modi warned that modern wars are waged not just with weapons but by striking economies, urging the country to shield its banking infrastructure from cyber‑terrorists.
He said the new facilities are a critical part of that defence, equipping banks with secure infrastructure and trained personnel to counter evolving threats.
The PM also castigated the opposition Congress for leaving half the population outside the banking ecosystem, citing 60 crore Jan‑Dhan accounts opened since 2014 as evidence of progress.
This inauguration marks the first step in a nationwide push to fortify India’s financial infrastructure against cyber threats.
