
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio added 24.02 lakh new mobile subscribers in August, lifting its total subscriber base to 508.43 million.
TRAI also reported that Bharti Airtel added 21.11 lakh, Vodafone Idea 5.06 lakh, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam 4.93 lakh subscribers during the same month.
The total number of wireless mobile subscribers in India rose 55.05 lakh, from 1,287.92 million at the end of July to 1,293.43 million by August's close.
Against this backdrop, U.S. equities opened lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipping 255 points, or 0.5%, the S&P 500 down 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite falling 0.9%.
Oil prices surged as Brent climbed 2% to $106.79 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate futures rose 2% to $94.40, and Treasury yields pushed the 10‑year above 5.2% and the 30‑year past 5.5%, setting a high‑interest tone that weighed on risk‑seeking stocks.
The data sets the stage for upcoming earnings from telecom giants, with investors eyeing how subscriber momentum translates into revenue growth.
