Shares of Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd surged 5.96% to ₹692.40 after the company disclosed a ₹1,716.90 crore order for 4,955 BOXNHL wagons. The lift followed the announcement that the Ministry of Railways had issued an amendment letter on October 28 under Clause 12, the option clause, keeping price and terms unchanged.
The new order brings the total number of wagons under the contract to 9,994 and extends the execution window to 222 days, with delivery slated for June 7, 2027. The amendment increases the overall contract value to ₹10,404.10 crore, inclusive of GST, as per the filing lodged with the BSE.
This expansion comes after the original contract, which had secured 4,039 wagons, saw a modest increase in volume but remained at the same unit price. By adding nearly 1,900 wagons, Titagarh’s order book now accounts for a substantial share of the Ministry’s domestic manufacturing push.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, the amendment was issued on the same day as the announcement, confirming there are no related‑party transactions involved. The deal solidifies Titagarh’s position as a key supplier in the rail freight market.
Looking ahead, the company will need to ramp up production and logistics to meet the June 2027 deadline, potentially generating steady revenue streams for the next fiscal year. Investors are watching closely for how the additional volume will affect earnings and whether the Ministry’s push for domestic manufacturing will translate into further contracts.
