Alcon Builders and Engineers Private Limited, the wholly owned arm of GPT Infraprojects, just secured a ₹149.49 crore contract from Western Railway. The order, awarded by DYCSTE-W-RJT-S, covers the Bhavnagar Division. It’s a significant win for the subsidiary, which specializes in railway infrastructure upgrades.
The scope is technical: replacing existing PI stations with electronic interlocking, MSDAC, and in-built block working at 18 stations. The job includes design, supply, installation, programming, testing, and commissioning. This isn't just a supply deal; it’s a full lifecycle integration project for signalling and telecom equipment.
This follows a major September win. On September 17, Alcon announced a ₹483.72 crore (including GST) contract from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) for a massive bridge over the Mahanadi River in Odisha. That project involves constructing Important Bridge 544, a 32x65.84-metre open web steel girder structure, as part of the third and fourth railway lines between Nergundi and Barang in the Khurda Road Division. The order value, excluding GST, is ₹409.94 crore, with a 1,095-day execution timeline from the appointment date.
Despite the win, GPT Infraprojects shares were trading soft. On the NSE, the stock closed at ₹118 on October 1, down ₹0.34 or 0.29% from the previous close. The market seems to be digesting the recent order book additions without an immediate price jump, keeping an eye on execution timelines and margin implications.
For investors, the focus now shifts to execution. The RVNL bridge project alone is worth over ₹400 crore ex-GST and has a nearly three-year timeline. The Western Railway order adds further stability to the subsidiary’s revenue stream. Watch for quarterly results to see how these orders translate into top-line growth and margin expansion for GPT Infraprojects.
