Balkrishna Nikam, Trishna’s father, filed a police complaint on September 29 alleging that the engineer had been pressured to surrender her salary, transfer her parents’ flat to her mother‑in‑law, and buy a Rs 1 crore property for her father‑in‑law.
The complaint names Rahul Sakpal, his mother Vaishali, father Sanjay, sister‑in‑law Shaili and grandmother‑in‑law Shakuntala Salunke as parties responsible for the alleged harassment, which the father claims culminated in Trishna’s decision to end her life.
Trishna had returned to her parents’ home in 2021 after enduring physical abuse, and her husband had since filed for divorce to remarry, a petition still pending in the Pune civil court.
Police have registered an FIR under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code against the five accused, and a court hearing is scheduled for October 15.
