The police burst into Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji on Thursday, smashing langar trays and tearing posters of revered Sikh figures, according to Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj. The vandalism, witnessed by congregants, also included damage to the gurdwara’s food supplies.
Gargaj called the incident “highly condemnable” and urged the Rajasthan Chief Minister to launch an impartial inquiry into the arrest of Tejinderpal Singh, a local Sikh leader, and the broader police conduct. He demanded strict action against any officials found responsible.
A Sikh delegation led by Giani Tek Singh, the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, inspected the site and condemned the police intrusion as a violation of religious protocol. Their report highlighted the sanctity of the gurdwara and the need for lawful procedures.
Rajasthan Police have yet to release an official statement, and the government’s response remains pending. The Chief Minister is expected to announce the probe and set a court hearing date within the coming week.
