If you’re after a sub‑₹12‑lakh SUV that still has punch, the Hyundai Bayon is hitting India’s road tomorrow. It starts at ₹9.5 lakh for the manual and climbs to ₹14 lakh for the fully‑loaded iVT, all powered by a 1.5‑litre, 113‑hp four‑stroke that delivers 144 Nm.
Under the hood, the 1.5‑litre, 113‑hp engine is paired with either a six‑speed manual or an iVT automatic that features Dash‑Boost for a quick surge. But the real trick is the optional Dash‑Boost, which gives a short burst of extra torque for overtaking, while the Eco, Normal and Sport modes help you balance performance with fuel economy. Real‑world mileage hovers around 17 kmpl, a modest figure that’s in line with similar‑priced rivals.
Inside, the Bayon doesn’t skimp on tech – dual 12.3‑inch screens, a Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof and a 360‑degree camera are standard. Safety is no afterthought: six airbags, electronic stability control, hill‑start assist, tyre‑pressure monitoring and ISOFIX anchors are built‑in, with Level‑2 ADAS on the top trim adding three radars and 12 parking sensors.
The body is 4.2 m long, uses 69 % high‑strength steel and can seat five adults comfortably. Hyundai offers a palette of six Monotone hues, two Dual‑tone schemes with black roof, and two Matte finishes – giving buyers a range of looks to choose from.
The Bayon will roll out during the festive season, with deliveries expected in late December. Bookings are open now, and a ₹11,000 deposit is refundable if you decide to hold off. If you’re in a hurry, ask the dealer if you can lock in a variant before the final price list drops tomorrow.
