A Delhi‑to‑Srinagar bus was struck by a stone near Doraha in Punjab on Sunday night, shattering a windowpane but leaving passengers unharmed.
Police officers from Khanna rushed to the scene, secured the vehicle and escorted it out of town. Superintendent R K Yadav confirmed that an FIR was filed at Doraha police station and that CCTV footage from nearby dhabas, petrol pumps and toll points is now under review.
The bus belongs to the same operator whose vehicle was attacked in Haryana's Karnal on Saturday. Yadav said investigators are probing whether the two incidents are linked, and has flagged the case for extra scrutiny.
The GT Road stretch has seen similar stone‑pelted attacks in the past, often during night‑time hours when spots are isolated. The Delhi‑Srinagar route, however, remains a major artery for inter‑state travel, raising concerns over passenger safety.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said his office had taken up the matter with the Haryana government after the Karnal attack, while the Punjab police continue to investigate. The bus resumed its journey to Srinagar under police escort after a brief halt.
