Ukrainian drone operators struck the Russian city of Belgorod on Sunday, killing three and injuring 14.
Belgorod regional governor Alexander Shuvayev said the strike damaged 30 residential blocks, 35 cars, four houses, three administrative buildings, eight commercial premises and three social facilities. "The attack has damaged 30 blocks of flats, 35 cars, four houses, three administrative buildings, eight commercial premises and three social facilities," Shuvayev told local media.
In a separate incident near the town of Shebekino, authorities reported one additional death and one injury.
The attack follows a series of drone incursions across the Belgorod border in recent weeks, with Russian officials blaming Ukrainian forces for escalating tensions. Belgorod authorities have called the strike part of a broader pattern of cross‑border hostilities.
Shuvayev said investigators will examine the drone's origin and the security lapse that allowed the attack, and the region will coordinate with federal agencies to review border defenses.
