The Andhra Pradesh Police’s takedown request on X, mistakenly identifying itself as the FBI, on September 16, 2026, has ignited a political firestorm, prompting YS Jagan to seek central clarification.
The request, which targeted posts about a Guntur incident, was flagged with "FBI" in the organization field, a clerical mistake the police later admitted.
Jagan, a former chief minister and current party chief, tweeted that the "FBI" reference tarnishes the state's reputation and demanded an explanation from the police's Director General.
The party has already approached the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the National Cyber Crime Bureau, demanding a detailed report on the authorization chain and legal basis.
An official response is due by September 18, 2026, and a parliamentary debate is slated for September 20, after which the YSR Congress may file a formal complaint with the Supreme Court.
