A Uttar Pradesh family left their 8‑year‑old son behind at a roadside dhaba in Una district, Himachal Pradesh, while traveling to the Naina Devi temple from Jwalamukhi temple.
The family, driving a tempo trailer, stopped in Dhusada area of Amb region for tea and snacks. They failed to notice the child, who began crying once they left.
The dhaba owner heard the sobbing child and alerted local residents. Police were called to the scene and examined CCTV footage to identify the vehicle.
Law enforcement located the vehicle and contacted the driver, who then informed the parents. The child was taken into police care and reunited with his family.
Despite the reunion, the parents remained unaware until police called them at the Naina Devi temple, where they were in the middle of offering prayers.
Police will file a report on the incident and urge travelers to double‑check that all family members are present before leaving a stop.
