Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the opposition Congress during a speech at the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi on Thursday, accusing Rahul Gandhi of trying to sow disorder in the country.
He said the Congress had failed to launch its own policies as successfully as the country’s rocket launches from Sriharikota, implying a lack of political direction.
Modi also highlighted protests by the Cockroach Janta Party and the INDIA bloc over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, which the opposition has blamed on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Speaking on the global stage, he warned that while the world seeks a new order, some in India are dreaming of disorder, insisting that India’s role in multilateral institutions must be strengthened.
He called for reforms in global governance and urged India to maintain effective cooperation even in crisis, stressing that the gap between reality and decision‑making must narrow.
The government will convene a parliamentary committee to examine the election‑roll controversy and is expected to release a comprehensive report before the next general election.
