On Wednesday, former minister Vishvendra Singh posted on Facebook accusing Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra of distributing municipal councillor tickets unfairly and of manipulating recruitment exams in Bharatpur, demanding his resignation.
Singh cited identical 80‑mark scores awarded to Dotasra’s daughter‑in‑law Pratibha Poonia and her relatives in 2016 and 2018, arguing that the marks were secured through misuse of power and that the candidates benefited from OBC reservations despite being from a creamy‑layer family.
Dotasra refuted the claims, asserting that the party was growing stronger and that the accusations were a BJP ploy to sow discord, saying, “There are no differences or disagreements within us. This is the BJP’s toolkit.”
The conflict comes amid a bitter proxy war between Dotasra and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, with both factions vying for control of the state unit after the party’s poor performance in the recent urban local body polls where the BJP won 20 seats, Congress secured seven, and independents took 36 in the 65‑member Bharatpur Municipal Corporation.
Singh has called on the BJP government and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to launch a detailed investigation, warning that “such corrupt leaders should resign immediately, or the Congress high command should take strict action.”
