Bitcoin ticked up 0.9% to $83,800 on Monday, nudging past the $83,000 threshold that has anchored the market since early October. The rally comes as investors await the U.S. CPI report on Wednesday, which could tip the Fed’s rate outlook.
Ethereum followed suit, climbing 1.2% to $2,540, while XRP hovered at $1.40 and Solana at $112. Avalanche, Chainlink and BNB posted gains, but Tron slipped lower. CoinDCX data shows a mixed altcoin landscape, with nine of the top ten cryptos advancing in the last 24 hours.
Spot Bitcoin ETF inflows hit $21.1 million on Oct. 9, according to BitDelta India, after a series of sharp withdrawals earlier in the month. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs shed $56.1 million, extending their outflow streak. The net inflow into Bitcoin ETFs suggests selective institutional interest despite a cautious market mood.
Minal Thukral, Executive Vice President at CoinDCX, noted that Bitcoin’s consolidation around $83,600 reflects thin weekend trading volume. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index dipped to 58, signalling a more neutral sentiment. Purvang Mashru of BitDelta India highlighted the impact of rising U.S. Treasury yields on the crypto backdrop.
Analysts pin the $82,000–$83,000 zone as near‑term support, with $84,000–$85,000 as the next resistance hurdle. A breakout above $85,000 would signal a new buying wave, while a dip below $82,500 could test the $80,000–$81,000 range. The technical picture remains fragile amid fluctuating institutional flows.
Market participants are set to weigh the CPI release on Oct. 14, which could confirm or soften expectations of continued monetary tightening. A softer inflation reading might lift risk assets, whereas a higher‑than‑expected figure could dampen the current bullishness. Traders keep an eye on the Fed’s next move as a key driver for crypto pricing.
