Sufia Bano, a 35‑year‑old Lucknow woman, and her 52‑year‑old lover Munna alias Muchhad stabbed Ramkishore Valmiki to death inside his home on the night of 14‑15 September 2024.
The pair had known Valmiki for four years, marrying him two years ago after a brief relationship with Bano. Valmiki’s return to his first wife, Kavita Devi, and the financial support he gave her triggered a series of violent quarrels.
On the fateful evening, Bano left her door unlocked and invited Munna and his associate Iqbal into the house. While Valmiki slept, the trio plunged a knife into his chest, then covered the wound with plaster and discarded the blood‑stained broom.
Bano, Munna, Iqbal and their 16‑year‑old son hid the body in a wooden crate under the bed, later transporting it in an e‑rickshaw to a canal bridge where it was dumped beneath the Bhavakheda Canal on 17 September.
Mohanlalganj police, following CCTV footage and the e‑rickshaw’s route, seized the suspects on the same day and recovered the body, which was identified by forensic analysis. The investigation is now scheduled to be presented before the Lucknow Sessions Court on 25 September.
