CNG‑AMTs have been dominated by manuals until now, but the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG‑AMT is changing that narrative. Priced at ₹8.53 lakh, it boasts a claimed 36.47 km/kg, the highest mileage among the new lineup.
Under the hood, a 1.2‑litre Z‑Series petrol engine is paired with a 5‑speed AMT. The S‑CNG tech lets it run on CNG or switch to petrol, giving drivers flexibility and the best fuel economy for city commutes.
Compared to the Tiago, Swift, and Baleno, the Dzire offers a fuller cabin and more boot space, while its mileage edges out the Swift’s 35.34 km/kg and Baleno’s 34.47 km/kg. The Punch SUV, though, sacrifices space for a 26.99 km/kg figure.
CNG vehicles enjoy a 15% GST reduction and a 10% excise duty waiver in most states, making the Dzire even more affordable. The government’s push for cleaner fuels is also encouraging buyers to look beyond petrol.
Maruti says the Dzire CNG‑AMT will roll out across major metro markets next month, with a wider rollout expected by Q3. Watch for dealer incentives and the possibility of a 75 kW battery‑assist version soon.
