Foreign Minister S Jaishankar told the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi that any resolution of the India‑China border dispute must encompass the entire frontier, citing the Galwan clash of 2020.
Jaishankar emphasized that while a single point of negotiation could spark progress, a full border agreement is indispensable. He added that the talks should begin with concrete, limited discussions but must ultimately map the entire line of contact.
He noted that the 2020 skirmish shattered decades of quiet coexistence, inflating trade, political ties, and people‑to‑people exchanges. Both sides, he said, see a basic working relationship as vital to national interests.
Jaishankar set a 2027 target for a comprehensive accord, warning that the pace will be slow and that unresolved differences will persist beyond the border settlement.
