Angel Carrasco, 31, was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault and endangering the welfare of a child after police allege he pushed Nathaly Michelle Ramirez and her eight‑month‑old daughter from the 15th‑floor balcony of the Allerville Arms building on Olinville Avenue in the Bronx.
Ramirez, a 23‑year‑old mother and nurse, fell at about 3:30 a.m. on October 6, but her baby was found clinging to her arms and survived the collapse, according to Jacobi Hospital staff.
Carrasco appeared before a judge on October 14 from a hospital bed, pleaded not guilty, and was remanded into custody while awaiting his first trial date on November 4.
In the aftermath, Ramirez’s mother Nathaly Minaya launched a GoFundMe titled “In Memory of Nathaly Michelle Ramirez” on October 8, and the campaign has already attracted more than 700 donors, raising over $32,000 to cover medical bills and living expenses.
Neighbors recall a desperate plea heard moments before the fall, and a vigil outside the apartment building underscored the community’s grief, as relatives described Ramirez as a warm, energetic soul who cherished her daughter.
