Dino Morea turned himself in to the Mumbai Police on Friday, a move that followed the opening of a probe into a ₹65‑cr desilting contract for the Mithi River.
The contract, awarded to Kochi‑based Matprop Technical Services, was meant to clear sludge from the river using specialized sludge pushers and dredging machines, but investigators say officials from the BMC's Storm Water Drains department and Matprop colluded to inflate costs and siphon off the money.
Call‑detail records from Ketan Kadam’s phone revealed multiple exchanges between Kadam and Morea, as well as the actor’s brother, and preliminary searches uncovered financial transactions that suggest Morea may have received or transmitted funds linked to the fraud.
Mumbai Police are still questioning Morea to determine the extent of his involvement, while the Enforcement Directorate has joined the investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, with a hearing slated for next month.
