Dayanidhi Maran, a senior DMK MP, slammed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Thursday, October 8 for his silence on the arrest of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
Maran posted a cartoon on X – a two‑headed Vijay on a tightrope, clutching Gandhi on one side and Narendra Modi on the other – calling the TVK‑Congress partnership an "incompatible alliance" and accusing Vijay of a "double action".
The DMK MP said the doubt had intensified after TVK’s response to the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, noting that Vijay did not even mention the BJP government in his remarks.
DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan criticised the TVK statement for failing to name the agency responsible for Gandhi’s arrest, pointing out that the Delhi Police, under the BJP‑led Union government, carried it out.
TVK has yet to respond to Maran’s remarks. The Congress, now part of the DMK‑led alliance, is expected to join the cabinet, but its relationship with the BJP‑led centre remains strained.
Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Chennai on Saturday, October 10, and Maran warned that Vijay and Gandhi might not share a platform in the city, signalling a potential rift in the Tamil Nadu political landscape.
