The agency flagged the products because their battery compartments violate federal safety standards—they open without tools, allowing kids to access button cell batteries.
These aren’t high-end gadgets. They are cheap novelties: light-up glasses, crown headbands, sparkle headbands, and ties. ABC Trading sold them for roughly $1 between September 2016 and May 2026 at Los Angeles stores, specialty shops across the US, and its own website, abctradinginc.com. The specific items carry codes '6502' (ties), 'HD-10' (headbands), or 'L-508' (glasses) on white labels with black text.
The danger is visceral. If a child swallows a button battery, it can lodge in the esophagus or stomach. The chemical reaction that follows causes severe internal burns. In some cases, it kills. So far, no injuries have been reported for this specific batch, but the CPSC acted preemptively to prevent a tragedy.
Parents need to act now. Stop letting kids play with these items. Check the packaging for the 'MADE IN CHINA, Importer: ABC TRADING, INC.' label.
