Veterans groups and historic‑preservation advocates have already voiced opposition, arguing the project could compromise the cemetery’s sanctity and the national heritage.
The Pentagon and Interior Department have not yet issued details, but the administration indicated construction could commence as early as November once the necessary approvals are secured.
