For those eyeing the Maruti Victoris, this isn’t a price hike or a new engine variant. It’s a styling package. The company has rolled out the Aurum Edition Strong Hybrid to mark the SUV’s first anniversary, available as a ₹22,990 add-on kit. The name is pulled from the Latin word for gold, a nod to the model’s rapid success. This is purely cosmetic and functional add-ons, not a mechanical overhaul. The base vehicle remains the same Strong Hybrid with EV mode that sits at the top of the compact SUV segment.
The kit itself is where the differentiation lies. You’re looking at copper-colored inserts on the front, side, and rear skid plates, plus the wheel arches. Chrome finishes appear on the grille, fenders, bumpers, body side mouldings, and door visors. Inside, you get all-weather 3D cabin mats, a 3D boot mat, and a rear trunk sill guard. It’s a targeted push to make the car stand out in a crowded lineup without changing the underlying platform.
Context matters here. The Victoris has been a sales phenomenon, becoming the fastest-selling passenger vehicle in India to cross the 1 lakh and 1.5 lakh milestones. JATO Dynamics certified these figures on May 31 and October 12, 2026, respectively. It also holds the record for the highest number of cars sold in a new model’s first year. This isn’t just marketing fluff; the data backs up that Maruti has found a winning formula in the sub-4-meter SUV segment.
The launch is timed for the festive season, with actor Shahid Kapoor as the face of the campaign. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer at Maruti Suzuki, highlighted that the edition is aimed at young customers who are early adopters of technology. The vehicle has already swept awards, including Indian Car of the Year 2026 and accolades from BBC Top Gear India, Car India Magazine, ABP Live Auto, and Hindustan Times Auto.
For buyers, the decision is simple: do you want the extra visual flair and premium mats for roughly ₹23,000, or do you stick with the standard trim? The rival, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, offers similar specs but lacks this specific anniversary styling package. With the Victoris already dominating its segment, this edition is less about creating new demand and more about capturing the latecomers who want a bit more personality in their compact SUV.
