By November 13, 2026, BYD will drop its Denza badge onto Indian roads, a move that signals the Chinese maker is serious about stepping into the luxury EV arena.
The first model to appear will be the Denza D9, a three‑row MPV that packs a 103 kWh pack, a front‑mounted motor that spits out 313 hp and 360 Nm, and promises a WLTP range of 520 km. Ex‑showroom, the D9 starts at ₹85 lakh, sliding up to ₹90 lakh depending on trim. It will sit next to the Toyota Vellfire and MG M9, offering more power and a longer battery in a package that still feels spacious.
If you’re chasing speed, the Z9 GT is the answer. The shooting brake will come with a 122.5 kWh battery and a tri‑motor layout that delivers between 1,140 hp and 1,156 hp. Its WLTP range is 600 km and it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. Ex‑showroom, the Z9 GT will cost between ₹1.2 crore and ₹1.5 crore, positioning it above most Indian luxury EVs and flirting with the performance‑oriented niche.
For the average buyer, the import duties on Denza will be the same as other premium EVs – 10 % GST plus 20 % customs on the EV’s value. That means the final price will be close to the ex‑showroom figure. The launch also aligns with the National EV Policy’s push to have 30 % of all new cars sold as EVs by 2030, giving buyers access to incentives and a growing charging network. Availability is slated for 13 Nov in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai, with a wider rollout over the next six months.
