Three masked men stormed the 5‑bedroom, $2.1‑million MAC Group headquarters home in Toronto’s Bridle Path at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, shooting CEO David Morton and his daughters before fleeing.
The assault left Morton and his daughter Maggie Zohil‑Morton with gunshot wounds to the legs, while Cristina Zohil‑Morton was shot in the arm; Doriana Zohil‑Morton, president of MAC Group, was struck on the head with a hammer. Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith said the intruders demanded valuables, but no robbery has been confirmed and it is unclear what, if anything, they took.
Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the attack, promising a heightened police presence in the affluent neighbourhood. “I am deeply troubled by the violent home invasion early this morning,” Chow wrote on X, urging a swift recovery for the Morton family.
Investigators are combing the area for surveillance footage from nearby businesses, while the suspects remain at large. The family is undergoing treatment in a Toronto hospital, and the police are continuing their search for the SUV that carried the intruders. The case is now a top priority for the Toronto Police Service, with a full inquiry set to begin next week.
