On Oct. 26, 2026, a wedding photoshoot beside the Bosphorus in Istanbul saw a bride nearly airborne as a gust of wind tugged at her 40-plus oversized balloons. The photographer was caught by the sudden shift when the balloons pressed against the seawall.
Photographer Selim Yilmaz said the wind speed spiked to 18 knots, sending the balloons toward a low‑lying building. He grabbed the bride’s sleeve just moments before she could be pulled over the edge.
The incident prompted Istanbul’s municipal safety office to issue a temporary advisory for outdoor shoots in windy conditions. "We are reviewing protocols to safeguard vendors and clients," said Deputy Mayor Mehmet Kaya.
The bride, who prefers to remain anonymous, laughed it off and completed the shoot, stating that the moment added an unexpected dramatic flair.
