The crash took place at about 2,700 metres above sea level between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. near Rising Star Peak, police said.
Gavrilichenko, 34, had arrived in India on October 7 on a tourist visa and was flying solo with friend Stephen Antony from Bir Billing at 11 a.m.
A rescue and recovery operation launched by the District Disaster Management Authority at 9 p.m. Sunday involved the State Disaster Response Force and other teams, who coordinated in the remote mountainous terrain.
The operation finished Monday at 10 a.m.; Antony was airlifted after medical assistance, while Gavrilichenko's body was handed over to the Zonal Hospital Dharamshala morgue for post‑mortem, police said.
Police are completing legal formalities and will confirm the exact cause of the accident after an investigation, which is expected to determine whether strong winds were a contributing factor.
