The vessel was identified through a week‑long intelligence feed, and Coast Guard assets conducted sea‑air surveillance before launching a hot pursuit that culminated in a boarding maneuver west of the Lakshadweep islands.
Five Pakistani nationals operating the dhow were detained, and the crew, along with the contraband, was escorted under armed guard to Mumbai for joint interrogation by the Coast Guard and Gujarat Anti‑Terrorist Squad.
The operation underscores India’s maritime interdiction capabilities and will see the seized drugs transferred to the Narcotics Control Bureau for prosecution, with a legal proceeding slated for the coming weeks.
