While en route to a state meeting, CM Sai’s convoy pulled up beside a modest stall on Telibandha Marine Drive, where a woman named Meera was arranging earthen lamps for sale.
Meera told the CM that she has a Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana account and receives a ₹1,000 monthly stipend under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a fact that pleased the Chief Minister.
CM Sai praised the schemes, saying they only matter when benefits reach people directly, and urged roadside vendors, potters and artisans to keep producing local goods.
The lamp bought by the CM will serve as the centerpiece of the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a campaign that runs from 17 September to 17 October and invites citizens to pledge service.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will open on 17 September with a launch event in Raipur, where the lamp will be lit to symbolize the state’s commitment to public welfare.
