Shivajinagar police booked a 32-year-old motorcyclist for allegedly cutting through the security cordon of Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol in Pune. The incident unfolded at 8:30 pm on Saturday in the Shivajinagar area, as the convoy traveled from Pune airport to Kothrud.
Police stated that the rider recklessly cut into the convoy at Sancheti Chowk, creating a dangerous obstruction to vehicular movement. The moment posed a direct threat to other commuters and the minister’s security detail.
A subsequent medical examination confirmed the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Shivajinagar police station officials said they registered the FIR under sections 184, 185, 119, and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, with section 185 specifically addressing driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The 32-year-old was let off after being served a notice. The case now moves to the traffic court, where the accused will face proceedings regarding the reckless maneuver and violation of traffic laws.
