Mamata, a mother of two, was attacked by her husband Enagandla Manichander in Kotapalli mandal after a heated quarrel over her refusal to return home.
The couple, married nine years ago, had been living apart since a dispute that began ten days earlier. Manichander had repeatedly urged Mamata to return to their marital home, but she declined.
On Monday, Manichander visited Mamata's parents' house in Kotapalli, where a confrontation erupted with her father Narayana. He struck Narayana with a wooden stick, causing a severe head injury and profuse bleeding.
Mamata stepped in to stop the assault, at which point Manichander bit her nose forcefully. The attack left a portion of her nose severed, requiring immediate medical attention.
Family members and onlookers rushed Mamata to the nearest facility, where she received initial treatment before being transferred to MGM Hospital in Warangal for definitive care.
Kotapalli Sub‑Inspector Rajasekhar confirmed that a case has been registered against Manichander and that an investigation is underway. The incident has drawn attention to the prevalence of domestic violence in rural Telangana.
