A woman named Thangkha Hao leapt onto a Hyundai heading toward Goalpara after it hit a roadside divider in Bamunigaon, Assam. The incident drew a crowd and forced police to intervene.
Bystanders initially feared that the woman had been abducted, but police said the trio—Thangkha Hao and two others—had been arrested earlier in a separate drug case.
Three men, Faridul Islam of Lakhipur, Amidul of Baruajhar and Abbas Ali of Ulubari, were detained on suspicion of orchestrating the confrontation.
OIC Munna Pachani said investigators are probing a financial dispute that may have ties to the drug trade, while also attempting to clarify the woman’s motives.
Police are questioning all involved and will release a formal report once the investigation is complete, with a hearing set for next month.
