Suresh Gupta's two‑storey house collapsed in Malwan, Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, after an LPG cylinder exploded at 5 p.m. Monday, killing four people and injuring three.
Seven people were pulled from the rubble; four died in hospital, including a three‑year‑old boy, an 18‑year‑old, and two teenage boys, while the remaining three suffer burns ranging from 90 % to mild.
Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik told PTI the blast hit the kitchen area while Gupta was preparing meals, and that the explosion also damaged several nearby houses.
Fire brigade personnel and local residents joined the rescue operation, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cylinder’s safety certification and handling.
A family displaced by the collapse has been relocated to a temporary shelter in the town’s community centre, where they await further assistance.
