Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring declared his unwavering loyalty to Rahul Gandhi during the inauguration of Pargat Singh as the party’s new state president in Chandigarh on July 7, 2026. The ceremony, held at the party headquarters, attracted senior leaders from across the state, including former CM Charanjit Singh Channi and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Warring, who has long been a Team Rahul loyalist, warned that Sachin Pilot might refuse him a ticket for the upcoming assembly polls, yet he pledged to remain a "soldier of Rahul" and support the party’s campaign. He also assured cadres that they would receive tickets, signalling a united front.
He urged Rahul Gandhi to remember the workers who had served the Congress for the past four and a half years, emphasizing the need to honour grassroots contributions. During the event he congratulated Pargat Singh, describing him as a "block unit president" and promising to work from the grassroots level.
The statement came as Punjab’s assembly elections loom, with political analysts noting that internal cohesion will be critical for the Congress’s prospects.
