Aradhana Mishra, the three‑time MLA from Rampur Khas, took over the UP Congress presidency after Ajai Rai. In her first address, she declared the party would spearhead a political offensive against the Election Commission, calling its recent rulings a breach of integrity.
Mishra pointed to the objections lodged by two Election Commissioners as a historic first. She said the institution’s validity had been undermined and vowed to push the issue through the party’s ranks.
She credited Rahul Gandhi for steering the Congress campaign that helped the Samajwadi Party secure 37 Lok Sabha seats in 2024, and praised his role in defending constitutional principles.
The next assembly election in 2027 has seen the Congress and SP wrestle over seat allocation. Mishra said a formula would be finalized soon, but the final call rests with the parties’ central leadership.
Mishra emphasized her priority to strengthen party organisation across Uttar Pradesh and to rebuild confidence among its workers. She dismissed the title of state president as secondary to organisational strength, calling the cadre "honest and strong soldiers".
Looking ahead, she pledged that Congress would work toward forming an alliance government in UP in 2027, a goal she said Rahul Gandhi had set.
