BJP president Nitin Nabin launched a four‑day anti‑drug tour on 18 September in Pathankot, heading to Bathinda by 21 September. The 'Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra' is part of the party’s strategy to project a drug‑free image before the assembly elections.
The opening day began with a floral tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee at Ekta Sthal, followed by meetings with families affected by drug abuse. On September 19, the march moved to Fatehgarh Sahib, where Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was scheduled to join.
The next stop on September 20 brought Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal to Fazilka, as the party highlighted the social costs of drug addiction. The final leg on September 21 in Bathinda would feature Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, closing the campaign.
By showcasing the harms of drug abuse and outlining a drug‑free Punjab roadmap, the BJP aims to fortify its grassroots network and rally public support ahead of the early‑next‑year elections.
