Ilma, 27, a beautician in Meerut’s Lohia Nagar, stabbed her husband Talib, 30, to death on September 28, 2023, with the aid of her boyfriend Aman. The trio had been living together for four years and had a three‑year‑old daughter.
Talib’s death was initially recorded as a sudden heart attack by the family, who buried him in a private plot. On October 1, his cousin Rais found Talib’s mobile phone under his clothes, sparking suspicion.
A chat log between Talib and Aman surfaced, showing Talib forbid Aman from contacting the wife. When Ilma confided the abuse, she called Aman; together they beat Talib and Aman strangled him with a chunni. Ilma later claimed the act was a response to repeated violence.
Circle Officer Sangram Singh filed a formal report with the district magistrate. The body will be exhumed on Tuesday for a post‑mortem. Ilma is currently under police surveillance while investigators await the autopsy results.
The case is being treated as a murder with a potential domestic‑violence motive. The autopsy will determine cause of death and guide the next legal steps.
