The fatal attack unfolded in the residential Anantpura area of Kota’s Pandit Deendayal Nagar on Monday night, when 18‑year‑old Bhuvnesh Nagar, a BTech student at the local college, was struck by knife wounds inflicted by five riders on motorcycles.
Earlier this year, Bhuvnesh had been accused of slashing Rahul alias Baccha during a March dispute that culminated in an attempted‑murder charge; as a juvenile he was sentenced to a home in a juvenile facility before his release.
Following the victim’s death at New Medical College Hospital, the city police registered a murder case against five individuals—Rahul alias Baccha, Sagar, Deepu Panda, and two unnamed accomplices—while the Forensic Science Laboratory and Mobile Forensic Unit collected evidence from the scene.
Both the accused and the victim are known to have pending criminal records, and police, led by Anantpura station SHO Mahesh Kumar, have launched a manhunt to locate the suspects who remain at large.
