The Grade 8 exam, the pinnacle of the UK’s graded music system, demands mastery of advanced technique, sight‑reading, aural skills and musical interpretation. It is recognised as the most rigorous test a guitarist can undertake before being considered a professional.
Abraham, a UK‑based guitarist of Indian origin, has been honing his craft since four, earning sponsorships from Marshall Amplifiers and Solar Guitars. He blends Western metal riffs with Bollywood tracks, a mix that has drawn 5,000 followers to his Instagram. "I just love playing the guitar and expressing myself through rock and metal music. Preparing for my Grade 8 exam is a lot of hard work, but the thought of setting a Guinness World Record keeps me practising every day!" he said.
The current Guinness record for the youngest Grade 8 guitarist is held by Alexander Hargraves of Colne, England, who achieved it at 11 years 7 months earlier this year. Hargraves’ milestone has become a benchmark for aspiring young musicians worldwide.
Abraham is training intensively, with lessons twice a week and mock exams to fine‑tune his performance. The official exam will be held at the London Conservatoire later this year, and results will be announced within 48 hours. Music teacher Neha Patel, who has coached him for three years, said his discipline has inspired her students.
