On Thursday, October 10, 2026, Delhi Police sealed 30 key stretches around Jantar Mantar, blocking access to the planned Cockroach Janta Party rally.
The stoppage followed the arrest of CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das at Indira Gandhi International Airport, who were taken to Chhatrasal Stadium under armed escort.
Traffic police deployed 200 officers across 30 corridors, citing law and order concerns, but commuters report snarls on Baba Khadak Singh Marg, Ashok Road and the Noida‑Delhi stretch to Kalindi Kunj. A local said, "I have been walking for nearly a kilometre; the traffic jam is so severe I could not find a bus."
CJP spokesperson Vikas Jain said the detentions would not deter nationwide protests, while Delhi traffic officials assured that diversions were in place and that they were monitoring the area closely.
Police have pledged to keep the zone monitored until the protest is called off, and the Central Election Commission is expected to issue a statement on the CJP's allegations by Friday.
