Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 4:30 p.m. on a special Indian Air Force aircraft and was whisked to Khurda helipad on a helicopter.
From Khurda he rode a motorcade to the RBI facility at Info Valley‑II in Jatni, a sprawling 18.55‑acre site that will host the ₹169‑crore data centre.
Jatin Mohanty, state vice‑president of the BJP, said the new hub will boost Odisha’s digital infrastructure and help the state emerge as a technology and electronics manufacturing destination.
An RBI official explained the centre is designed to strengthen data management, disaster recovery, cybersecurity and business continuity for core functions such as currency management, payment and settlement systems, and regulatory operations.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by former RBI governor Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023, and the site was chosen for its geographical stability, away from seismically active zones and high‑risk international border areas.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the state’s preparedness before Modi’s arrival, and the centre will soon begin supporting banks that serve millions of Odisha residents.
