Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar told Kannada broadcaster Asianet Suvarna News that an industrialist attempted a sting operation on him and Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan during a meeting, allegedly using Meta smart glasses to record their conversation.
The allegation comes amid a series of sting‑operation claims that have rattled Karnataka politics. Former CM Siddaramaiah has also faced accusations of being targeted, and he has dismissed the allegations as false, filing a complaint with the state police.
Shivakumar urged cabinet colleagues to be wary of personal assistants and phone calls that could be used to trap them, saying the government had taken precautionary measures but kept details undisclosed.
Shivakumar said the industrialist had previously met Satheesan wearing the same Meta glasses, but did not wear them in meetings with other chief ministers such as N. Chandrababu Naidu or Devendra Fadnavis, raising questions about the motive.
The deputy chief minister has called for a formal probe by the police, and Siddaramaiah has petitioned the court to dismiss the case, making the investigation a high‑profile political showdown.
