Raijor Dal activists converged outside the Chief Minister’s colony in Guwahati, carrying black flags and chanting slogans calling for immediate financial assistance to families hit by the Upper Assam floods.
A heavy police cordon surrounded the residence, and officers moved in when a group tried to breach the perimeter. Several demonstrators, including Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti general secretary Bidyut Saikia and Raijor Dal leader Dhoirya Konwar, were detained and taken to police stations.
The party also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into alleged man‑made factors behind the floods, arguing that unchecked industrial and infrastructural development contributed to the disaster.
The floods, which devastated Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat, left dozens of homes collapsed and agricultural land inundated, prompting the party to push for swift relief and reconstruction funds.
