The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation rolled out an online liquor booking app in November 2025 that lets users search, pay, and collect alcohol at 208 government‑run shops, but delivery remains prohibited.
On Wednesday, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj demanded the app be scrapped within 24 hours, warning that failure would trigger mass protests and that minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa should be removed.
The corporation says the app received approval in December 2024 under the previous Delhi administration, with a Rs 5 lakh contract awarded to GITS India Solutions Private Limited for development and a one‑month implementation window.
BJP officials defended the scheme as a digital governance experiment aimed at reducing queues and boosting transparency, while critics argue it prioritises sales over public welfare, citing hospital patients and women waiting for pink cards.
The Delhi government has announced a review of the app's legality and will decide whether to suspend or amend the service before the next assembly session, with the AAP demanding a swift rollback.
