Shashank Kantharia, a senior accountant originally from Purani Pasarat in Jhansi, was wounded when his wife Priya Sharma and her gym trainer Pratap Singh entered his home in Vasundhara Sector‑1. The attack, which took place at the Jagriti Resident Welfare Association Society on the morning of 26 October, left Shashank with multiple stab wounds before the assailant fled.
The knife used in the assault was recovered by Delhi Police, who also seized the weapon from the scene. Police said the attacker, Pratap Singh, wielded the blade at Sharma’s request after she discovered Shashank’s plan to relocate following Diwali.
The couple’s relationship began seven to eight months ago when Sharma started training at Fitness Headquarters, the gym where Pratap Singh works. WhatsApp messages exchanged between Sharma and Singh, according to police, revealed a romantic liaison that evolved into a murder plot.
Shashank’s brother filed a complaint, prompting the police to register a case for attempted murder and criminal conspiracy against both Sharma and Singh. The case was lodged at the Indirapuram police station, which oversees the Vasundhara area.
Shashank was taken to Yashoda Medicity Hospital after the incident and survived his injuries. He has since spoken with his family, while his brother recounted the shocking revelation of his brother‑in‑law’s alleged affair.
Delhi Police have filed the case and the trial is pending in the Delhi courts, with authorities preparing to present evidence of the pre‑planned attack. The investigation continues as the police seek to establish the full extent of the conspiracy.
