Delhi Police will field 20,000 officers alongside 23,000 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies, including 85 CRPF, 10 SSB, seven ITBP, seven RAF, and one CISF unit, as the Union Home Ministry mobilises the security apparatus for the October 10 protest.
Earlier this year, the government deployed 150 CAPF companies for the CJP’s July Jantar Mantar demonstration and 93 units for the farmers’ protest in Punjab, signalling a pattern of heavy military presence at politically sensitive events.
The security plan includes a multi‑layered barricade around Jantar Mantar, closure of all New Delhi Metro stations, and potential market shutdowns; CCTV and facial‑recognition cameras will monitor the capital’s borders, while BNSS 163 grants the Executive Magistrate the power to prohibit any assembly.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das confirmed that the protest would be formally notified to Delhi Police, and he said the party would cooperate with law‑enforcement on traffic and safety. The announcement follows the detention and subsequent release of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and others in Delhi, a move that has prompted opposition MPs to convene at a café to plan a march to Rajghat after the protest.
The authorities have asked neighbouring states such as Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to remain on high alert, and the Union Home Ministry warned that any attempt to breach the ban will trigger immediate enforcement under BNSS 163.
