Bihar Vigilance Bureau launched simultaneous raids on Monday at the Patna and Begusarai residences of Additional District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Diwakar and District Sub‑Registrar Kumari Sweety, as part of a disproportionate assets probe. The operation, overseen by the DIG of Vigilance, involved the use of counting machines to quantify the seized cash, jewellery and luxury watches.
Officials recovered ₹70 lakh in cash and 48 watches worth ₹6 lakh from the Patna home, while Begusarai yielded ₹9 lakh in cash and an array of gold and silver jewellery. Documents tied to land, bank accounts, investments and property transactions were also seized from both locations.
The Bihar Vigilance Department is currently verifying the recovered items and will determine whether the couple’s holdings constitute disproportionate assets. If the findings confirm irregularities, an FIR will be filed against Diwakar and Sweety.
The couple’s property portfolio includes two flats in Patna, registered in their names, valued at ₹1.07 crore, and three plots owned by Sweety’s father, worth approximately ₹1.28 crore, raising questions about the source of these assets in relation to their public salaries. Local civil servants have expressed concern that the case could signal a broader crackdown on bureaucratic corruption in Bihar.
