On 22 September, the Telangana Anti‑Corruption Bureau executed warrants that led to the seizure of a plot in Banjara Hills valued at about ₹2.7 crore in book value, linked to Dr Bhasker.
The same day, investigators recovered a ₹4.94 lakh cash stash from the home of Dhanraj, a barber at NIMS, and uncovered three agricultural parcels in Maheswaram worth roughly ₹57 lakh, raising questions about the source of funding.
Earlier on 21 September, the case was registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and subsequent searches on 22 September revealed eight residential flats, four open plots, and financial holdings—₹41 lakh in bank balances, ₹12 lakh in post‑office deposits, ₹35 lakh in private investments, and ₹29.55 lakh in mutual funds—alongside 517.8 g of gold and three luxury cars.
ACB officials say the bureau is still verifying the documents and ownership links, with a preliminary court hearing slated for 5 October to decide on the seizure and potential recovery of assets that could exceed ₹200 crore.
The case underscores the growing scrutiny of medical officials, as Dr Bhasker’s alleged holdings contrast sharply with his public service role at NIMS, prompting calls from civil society for stricter enforcement.
