A five‑year‑old boy in Ved village, Sami taluka, Patan district, Gujarat, suffered a severe injury when an exposed iron rod penetrated his mouth after he fell while playing outside.
The child was rushed to Radhanpur Government Hospital after his parents dialed emergency services. Hospital staff immediately began stabilizing him, controlling the bleeding and preparing for surgery.
Surgeons extracted the rod after a 40‑minute operation that required a private dental surgeon's assistance. The team worked carefully to avoid damage to the jaw and surrounding tissue.
Dr DS Sodha, a dentist at the hospital, said the procedure was complex but successful. He urged parents to keep a close eye on children in open play areas.
The boy is now in stable condition and will remain under observation for the next few days. Hospital officials will monitor him for any signs of infection or complications.
