Kishtwar police on Friday arrested Bashir Ahmed Dar and Nazir Ahmed Dar for the murder of Special Police Officer Bashir Ahmed, who disappeared from a post on October 15 near Trigam forest.
Ahmed had left the post with his service rifle, and when his wife inquired the next day, she was told he had already gone home. A search operation followed, and Kishtwar units recovered the rifle and later the body from a pit in a nallah at Seran Wani.
The suspects, residents of Seran Wani, confessed after sustained interrogation, revealing a conspiracy and motive. The weapon of offence and victim’s belongings were recovered during the probe.
A case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered, and the investigation is moving toward filing charges. The next court hearing is scheduled for December 3, after the prosecution files the final report.
